PARRA JIMENEZ, EL TROYANO ORANGE WINE

Made using white Verdejo grapes, this remarkable biodynamic orange wine has been fermented with skin contact (normally removed), then later stored in large French oak vats. Skin contact retains the attractive amber colours and lees ageing produces a smooth and complex wine. Refreshing with delicate aromas of peach and orange; on the palate there are savoury peppery notes and a dry texture that balances some of the sweetness of the fruit. There’s moderate acidity and delicate hints of vanilla and spice on the finish, poured from a beautifully eye-catching terracotta-style bottle. Definitely worth a try if you fancy something a bit unusual! Perfect as an aperitif, or with light salmon or chicken dishes with nutty grains.
