DOMAINE BOUSQUET RESERVE ORGANIC MALBEC
DOMAINE BOUSQUET RESERVE ORGANIC MALBEC
High in the Gualtallary Valley of Tupungato, where the Andes stand as silent sentinels, Domaine Bousquet weaves a tale of tradition, innovation, and a profound respect for nature. From the windswept vineyards perched at 1,200 metres, this modern Malbec emerges—a wine that speaks not only of its unique terroir but also of the passion of the Bousquet family, who traded the South of France for the sun-drenched skies of Mendoza.
Pour a glass, and the deep purple hue shimmers like twilight. The aroma rises to greet you, a medley of bright red berries, wild mushrooms, and the earthy whisper of a forest floor after rain. It’s a nose that invites exploration, drawing you closer to uncover the secrets within.
The first sip is like stepping into a rich tapestry. Silky notes of prune, violet, and a delicate spice unfold, layered with a subtle undercurrent of French oak finesse. There’s a whisper of chocolate that lingers, as though the Andes themselves had lent their shadows to the wine. The flavours are vibrant yet refined, balanced by the purity of the organically grown fruit.
The story of Domaine Bousquet began in Carcassonne, where four generations of winemakers honed their craft. In 1990, the family ventured to Mendoza, captivated by the region’s potential. By 1997, they had planted roots—literally and figuratively—acquiring 110 hectares of land in one of the world’s highest altitude vineyards. Today, the estate spans 240 hectares, a testament to the Bousquets’ commitment to sustainability and quality.
The secret lies in the land itself. With cool nights, constant breezes, and sandy soils with excellent drainage, the vines thrive in near-perfect conditions. Rainfall is scarce, just 20cm annually, allowing the family to control irrigation with pristine Andean water—so pure it’s bottled and sold locally. The result? Grapes that ripen to perfection, untouched by pesticides or chemicals, nourished only by compost and care.
In the cellar, the Bousquets handle their fruit with the same meticulous respect shown in the vineyard. Every step is gentle, every decision made to let the natural flavours shine. Their Malbec is a pure, unadulterated expression of the Tupungato region—vibrant, authentic, and alive with character.
To pour this Malbec is to pour a piece of the Andes, a celebration of land and legacy. Whether shared over a hearty meal or savoured in quiet reflection, it offers not just a drink but an experience—a moment to taste the harmony between nature and human hands.
